Depending on where you are in the world, the cost of a wedding can run anywhere from a mere US$55 (which is just the marriage license) to as much as US$100,000. In the UK the average is between £16,000 and £25,000. In the US, it runs to about US$19,000. That’s a whale of a lot of money that couples spend to make one single day memorable.
It’s actually possible to have a great wedding without breaking the bank. For example, do you know that it is possible to find a great wedding dress for as low as $14.90? You can get shoes for a mere $9.99. Imagine a wedding outfit for less than $25… quite incredible, isn’t it?
It’s easy to keep the costs of your wedding down. The first step is to decide on a budget so that you know exactly how much you have to work with. Once you have that figure firmly in mind, the next step is to find items that will look gorgeous yet be less expensive than if you had them specially designed.
Bargains can be found everywhere. You can go to flea markets, wedding expo’s, or to mall sales to find good discounts. Especially in the off season, items you need for your reception will cost only a fraction of their normal cost than if you get it in the months of May to October.
Here’s an even better idea: instead of walking around and around and just maybe finding what you need, let the internet work for you. Go shopping online and have fun surfing the web for the elements to make your wedding absolutely perfect! There are quite a number of bargains to be made if you look in the right places. Best of all, no painful feet!
Some sites will list selections of wedding dresses, gowns and suits for the entourage, shoes, flowers and decorations. Others will also include jewelry, wedding favors and even wedding cakes. There will even be some that will have items like wedding confetti, wedding albums and wedding gifts.
With online shopping the only concern you have is that you don’t get to physically inspect each item. You get them on an as is where is basis. Just make sure that you are getting your items from a trusted site, one that gives options for refunds in case of breach of agreement.
Some sites like ebay have a screening method for their buyers. They want everyone to “buy safely” which is why they rank they post buyer feedback and comments about the person or store you are purchasing from. They also have a paypal buyer protection option posted on their site.
While nothing will ever beat having all your wedding materials specially designed for you, unless you are so rich that money is no object, it is best to be a little bit practical and find ways to cut corners to meet your budget. Don’t worry, no one ever checks the label of the gowns to see how much it costs. The important aspect is your happiness and satisfaction with your relationship and marriage 🙂
