Today’s inspiration shoot came from Leah’s (the photographer) love of enchanted love stories; the classic “girl meets boy, girl falls in love, only to find out the boy is a mythical wolf that must turn back at the end of their perfect date in the woods” story. The colors, arrangements, characters, and scenario all told the story of their Enchanted Engagement. Let’s get lost in love at the enchanted woods as Leah presents her twist in this lovely photo shoot!
The Story Behind The Shoot
I originally wanted bright reds and greens as the colors. Also, I wanted snow as my backdrop. I found myself scouting in the Northern California woods when I saw this large green log. It was perfect, but no snow. I decided it was worth the compromise. As I put together my color board, I realized that bright reds and greens would no longer work due to color clashing. I then decided on the darker blood reds, and blacks. They embodied the dark enchanted theme I was looking for. Now everything was falling into place.
Details That Made This Shoot Extra Special
The Real-Life Couple Who Modeled. The woman, Sarah Nixon, is a childhood friend, whom I have always said was model material. The man, Grant Nixon, happens to be her husband, which brought great chemistry on camera. The Wolf, Raider, is an old friend’s pup who also had great chemistry on camera!
The DIY Projects. I made the bouquet from the sale rack at Michaels Craft Store. I grabbed red orchids, maroon lilies, dark red berries, black draping plants, gold leaves, and dark feathers to tie it all together. Wrapped in black burlap and gold ribbon. I went with the long stem messy bouquet style. I was nervous since this was my first time creating my flower arrangement, but I was pleasantly surprised! It came out just as I envisioned! I am so pleased with this shoot!
