Are you in the process of interviewing potential wedding planners? Here are some questions to ask each planner you interview before you hire them for your big day.
Hiring a coordinator for your wedding is a big decision, which is why you need to ask your potential wedding planner certain questions before you seal the deal. Your planner will play a crucial role in coordinating your big day, and the right one can make or break the entire occasion. It doesn’t matter how large or small your event is going to be—a wedding planner is a lifesaver!
Before you decide on a wedding planner, though, you need to make sure you’re hiring the right professional for your needs. Ask your potential wedding planner the following questions during your initial consultation:
What’s your philosophy on style?—One of the first things to ask your potential wedding planner is how they feel about style. What are their preferences? What are they inspired by? Do they have a portfolio you can view? Make sure you’re compatible with your wedding planner in the style department. Even though you’ll have a say in all of your decor choices, your planner will still be largely responsible for making suggestions and selections, so it’s important to be on the same page.
Do you have a list of references?—The planner you interview will likely provide you with a list of former clients and references upfront, but if they don’t, be sure to ask. Don’t be afraid to call references and ask the clients’ opinions on the overall service.
Which vendors do you work with?—This is a very important question to ask your potential wedding planner. Wedding coordinators often have a select list of vendors they work with because they maintain relationships and a repertoire with them. However, if you have your sight set on a specific vendor, it’s important to find out if they will work with that vendor or how their services work in terms of choosing outside sources. Be sure to clarify this with your potential wedding planner before signing the contract.
