So you’re going to create your own menu for your wedding but you’re not sure how much food you should have. It would be super embarrassing to not have enough for each guest, but it can be difficult to determine how much you should prepare in advance. Here’s a quick guide to help ensure that you have enough food and beverages for everyone.
If You’re Serving…
Sandwiches
You will want to prepare 1.5 per guest. So, if you’re having a wedding for 50 guests, you should have at least 75 sandwiches.
Appetizers
If you’re serving the appetizers before the main course, you’ll want to prepare 6 per guest, but if you’re not having a main course, you’ll want to prepare 12 pieces per guest. So, for a wedding with 50 guests, you’ll need 300 appetizers (before the main course) or 600 appetizers (with no main course).
Candy Buffet
If you’re planning a candy buffet and don’t know how much to buy, factor in half a cup for each guest. So, if you’re planning a wedding for 50 guests, you should at least have 25 cups of candy.
Drinks
Your guests will likely drink 1.5 drinks per hour if you’re serving alcoholic beverages or about 2 gallons for 25 guests. So, a wedding with 50 guests should have at least 4 gallons of drink.
Cupcakes
How many wedding cupcakes will you need? Well, like the sandwiches, your guests will probably eat about 1.5 each. So, go for at least 75 cupcakes for 50 guests.
This quick guide can help you plan how much food, candy or drinks to purchase for your wedding to ensure that your guests get plenty!
